Outreach Program on Juvenile Rights Awareness

On February 13, 2023, the Centre for Women & Child Welfare Policy (CWCWP) at Ramaiah College of Law, in collaboration with the Centre for Child & Law (CCL, NLSIU), conducted an Outreach Program at the Juvenile Observation Homes in Madiwala, Bengaluru. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about juvenile rights among the residents through a skit performance and interactive sessions.
The program began with introductions by Ms. Amaidhi Devraju from CCL and faculty coordinators Dr. Anita A. Patil and Prof. Sweta Kumari. A skit, performed in Kannada and Hindi, depicted a child's journey through the juvenile justice system, highlighting mental health issues and juvenile rights. This was followed by a roundtable discussion on topics such as mental health, juvenile rights advocacy, and the workings of Observation Homes.
The event concluded with reflections on the experience and the importance of practical knowledge in upholding children’s rights. Ms. Amaidhi Devraju emphasized the program's role in empowering juveniles and enhancing understanding among law students about juvenile justice challenges.
