OUTREACH PROGRAMME- NEW BEL ROAD
On December 13, 2023, the APD-RCL Centre for Disability Law and Policy, in collaboration with a group of 100 volunteers, conducted an outreach activity in New BEL Road, Bangalore. The objective was to assess the accessibility of public places for individuals with disabilities and collect photographs for the Yes to Accessibility project. Organized into three groups, volunteers were led by distinguished faculty members including Mr. Badal Chatterjee, Mr. Rishabh Bhandari, and Ms. Prerna George. From 11:15 AM to 1:00 PM, strategic locations such as footpaths, banks, food joints, hospitals, and pharmacies were surveyed to raise awareness about infrastructure accessibility. Enthusiastic student volunteers from various academic years actively participated in the survey, gaining firsthand experience and insights into the importance of accessible public spaces. The collaboration between volunteers, faculty, and committee members signifies a commitment to inclusivity. The data collected will contribute to the development of an app aimed at ensuring accessibility for all.
