On July 10th, 2024, Ramaiah College of Law's Centre for Women and Child Welfare Policy organized an Awareness Programme for school children at Government High School, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. The event, focusing on 'POCSO, Right to Education C Basics of Constitutional Rights,' aimed to educate students about personal safety, the right to education, and fundamental constitutional protections.
The program began with Ms. Pranati Patel G.B. welcoming the Head Master, Dr. Chandrasekhar, who received a sapling as a token of gratitude from Dr. Anita A Patil, Faculty Coordinator. The session kicked off with an introduction followed by an interactive QCA on good touch and bad touch. LL.M students performed skits on sexual abuse and child marriage, engaging students in understanding these critical issues. One skit highlighted societal traps leading to sexual abuse, while another focused on the crime of child marriage and prevention measures.
Dr. Anita Patil provided insights on cybercrimes, POCSO, and helpline numbers for reporting incidents. The session was highly interactive, and students actively participated and enjoyed the program.
The event successfully raised awareness on good and bad touch, child marriage, the right to education, constitutional rights, and cybercrimes. Students showed great interest and engagement, particularly during the skits and quiz sessions, demonstrating the program's impact.
